Oh lordy, it looks like I haven't been making any comics. But I have, honest I have.

There's the one I did for the anthology Solipsistic Pop, which is a classy little book. The comics by Stephen Collins are just so good.

Also, I drew on the wall at the ICA as part of the Comica Festival

(The words are written by Alan Moore not me)

Then I drew some strips for Top Shelf 2.0. I'm not sure when they're gonna put them up though. Also I did one for another site, but I'm not sure when that's going up ether. Watch this space I guess.

I have done sketchbook stuff, but I don't think i could be bothered to scan any of it. So, instead, here's a picture of my son at Halloween...

It looks like I shy away from drawing feet, but it's not true. They just got cut off by my speech bubble. Look, here they are...

So anyway today I got that Understanding Comics book. Maybe my comics will improve as I delve into the theory of it all.

The Daily Cross Hatch have posted one of my strips. Actually it's only the first page, there was a little more, I don't know what they did with the rest. Still, it seems to work as it is. Go have a look, if you've got the time.

So I thought I'd colour this one rather than the usual wash. What do you think? I'm so set in my ways I find it difficult to break from routines.

In other news, today is my birthday. I'm 32. The equivalent wisdom of two sixteen year old Joes. And everyone knows two sixteen year old Joes are more foolish than one.

volume one & volume two.

So, I'm back from my holidays. Comics that were ordered during my break will be posted first thing. I have other, larger and more detailed strips to share with you but they will have to wait until I've unpacked bags and untidied the house a bit.

All my 2.0 comix here.

So yeah, I'm on holiday in France. I'm drawing comics and I'll show you them when I get back home next week and dust off the old scanner. Meanwhile here's an annoying animated gif of my drawing process.

Yep, three new comics over at Top Shelf. Please go and have a look at them and let me know what you think.

In fact if you've got time, I could do with your feedback not only on these strips but my comics in general. Don't feel you have to be nice ether, I could really do with some constructive criticism. So feel free to tell me what you don't like, what needs improvement etc. Generally the comments I usually get are all positive, and although this is lovely and encouraging, I could do with your critical eye too.

Yeah, so the "flowers telegraphed" sign I used to walk past everyday. I loved it, how do you telegraph flowers?. I wanted a photo of it but never took one, then last week noticed it had been torn down and replaced with some photoshoped ugliness. Ah well, you can't halt progress. And in fifty years time kid's will be saying how they "love the old timely computerised signs with their 'bevel and emboss' and their 'drop shadows' ...that kind of thing you can't replicate on modern computer boxes"

volume one or volume two can be bought for money.

others can be seen for free.

If it's any consolation, I can't read what this strip says ether. I could post a translation?

[Edit] here's the translation...

"I think I'm gonna draw this strip in French to appeal to the French and Belgian BD readers"

"but won't that alienate you're English speaking readers?

"yeah, you're right"

Hey did you see the interview with me that [info]reidsrow posted?

Sorry about the length of this strip, probably should have shoved half behind a cut? it seems to have taken me all week to draw, but anyway it's done now. It's my contribution to this years Not My Small Diary, the anthology that is single-handedly responsible for getting me into drawing comics. This years theme is "Brushes With Celebrity"

For those of you below a certain age, information on these celebrities is behind here )
